Arriving at the Office
Upon arriving for your first appointment, please take a seat in our waiting room and Dr. Rockwell-Evans will come out and greet you at your appointment time. Our office does not have a receptionist that will greet you. Please bring the completed client forms to maximize the time in your session. If you are unable to print the forms, please let us know in advance so we can provide the paper work for you at the office. If you complete the paperwork in the office, please allow 15 to 20 minutes for completion. If the client is a minor child, it is necessary for a parent or guardian to be present. For map and directions, please go to the contact page.
Initial Evaluation
Dr. Rockwell-Evans begins by assessing your goals and defining your values, helping to identify what a meaningful life looks like for you. The assessment phase usually takes between one and three sessions. Utilizing a combination of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and exposure and response prevention therapy, she devises a treatment plan that minimizes the debilitating effects of anxiety. We collaborate with your health care providers, psychiatrists, or school counselors when necessary. With a compassionate hand, she teaches you coping techniques that allow you to successfully weather life’s ups and downs.
Your role in therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process. Your willingness to work hard and commit to therapy is an integral component to long-term success. We expect clients to practice new skills in between sessions and to regularly attend appointments on time.
